Biography
Lot M. Morrill was a lawyer whose passion for justice and equal opportunity guided his rise through Maine's legislature and into the governor's office, where he oversaw the state during the upheaval of the Civil War era.
He then represented Maine in the U.S. Senate and served as Secretary of the Treasury, defending sound finances and civil rights during Reconstruction, and his enduring commitment to the public good is honored at Forest Grove Cemetery.
