Louis Aguettant
1871–1931 (age 60)
Biography
Louis Aguettant devoted his career to teaching literature and to writing insightful essays about music and composition, believing that the discipline of the classroom could be enriched by the rhythms of the concert hall.
He published reflections that mingled criticism with personal meditation, encouraging readers to hear voices and phrases anew, and when he died in 1931 he was laid to rest at Saint-Amour, the village that keeps his legacy of attentive listening alive.
