Biography

Louis-Gustave Marchant was a French politician who played a role in the governance and public affairs of nineteenth-century France. His political career reflected the democratic and institutional developments of his era, during which France underwent significant constitutional and administrative changes.

Born in 1816 and dying in 1884, Marchant lived through seven decades of French history, witnessing the evolution from the Restoration period through the Third Republic. He was laid to rest at Père Lachaise Cemetery, honoring his contributions to public service.
