Biography

Lucius Fairchild (1831-1896) rose to prominence as a Union Army officer, bravely serving through the Civil War and sustaining a grievous wound at Gettysburg that cost him an arm yet not his determination.

He later led Wisconsin as governor, championing veterans' rights and civic improvement, and his final resting place at Forest Hill Cemetery is tended in gratitude for a life spent in selfless service.
