Lyman Draper

Biography

Lyman Draper, born 1815, devoted his life to collecting the letters, diaries, and stories of frontiersmen so future generations would understand the early American experience. His meticulous research and passion for preservation made him a trusted figure among historians and helped found a lasting repository of knowledge.

He passed in 1891 and found rest at Forest Hill Cemetery, but his vast collection continues to enlighten scholars and citizens who seek to honor the pioneers he recorded.
