Biography

Mamah Borthwick embraced a love of letters and spirited conversation, carving out a life of intellectual independence that drew friends and visitors to the wooded grounds around Unity Chapel during the early years of the twentieth century.

She welcomed others into an ambitious household shaped by art and humane ideals, and though her years were brief, the calm dignity she carried lives on near her gravesite at Unity Chapel Cemetery.
