Biography

Manuel Godoy (1767–1851) was a Spanish military officer and statesman whose career encompassed significant periods of Spanish history. Though primarily known for his role in Spanish politics and military affairs, his later years were spent in France, where he maintained his connections to European political and military circles.

Godoy's long life spanned the late eighteenth and mid-nineteenth centuries, witnessing dramatic transformations in European politics and warfare. His burial at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris reflects his prominence and the respect he maintained in European society despite the vicissitudes of his political career.
