Marcel Rivière
1901–1960 (age 59)
Biography
Marcel Rivière spent his working life at the school of Le Mesnil-Saint-Denis, where he first introduced teenagers to history and languages, encouraging them to ask questions rather than memorize facts. He championed collaborative projects, giving shy students the chance to lead exhibitions and performances.
He also helped organize community lectures, guided newly appointed colleagues, and kept alive a tradition of caring discipline; the surrounding parishes still note his patience and soft humor after the bell.
