Marcus H. Holcomb

Biography

Marcus H. Holcomb (1844-1932) served as Governor of Connecticut during the years that included World War I, guiding the state with steady judgment and a calm sense of public duty. Prior to that he held numerous public offices, always bringing careful attention to the practical needs of towns and cities.

He believed that honor and service were inseparable, and he inspired others to meet civic responsibilities with integrity. He is buried at Grove Street Cemetery, leaving a record of thoughtful leadership in state government.
