Margaret Baker

1730–1803 (age 73)

Biography

Margaret Baker lived out her days near Stirchley’s St James’ Church, becoming a familiar and kindly presence among its worshippers from 1730 until 1803. She supported the parish’s work with nimble hands, offering aid at every harvest supper and sharing provisions with families in need.

Her steadiness encouraged younger neighbours to take up volunteer tasks, and she was often the first to welcome newcomers through the church doors. Margaret’s gentle example continued to inspire the Stirchley community long after her voice fell silent.
