Margaret Stewart, born in 1770, was a devout adherent of the covenanted faith who spent her years commemorating the sacrifices of earlier witnesses and upholding the discipline of the Scottish kirk.
She died in 1857 and is remembered within the Greyfriars Covenanters Prison, where visitors honour the patient witness of a woman who cherished the principles of steadfast faith.
