Biography

Maria Hyden (1805–1868) was a teacher whose gentle insistence on curiosity opened doors for pupils in Pyynikin kirkkopuisto and the surrounding neighborhoods. Her lessons extended beyond letters and numbers to include kindness, patience, and an abiding respect for each child’s potential.
