Biography

Maria Nikolayevna Stroganova (1729–1805) was a member of the prominent Stroganov family, one of the most influential noble houses in Russian history. As a woman of considerable social standing, she occupied an important position within Russian aristocratic society and participated in the cultural and social life of the imperial court.

Stroganova's life reflected the privileges and responsibilities of her elevated social status. Her family's vast wealth and extensive landholdings made her one of the most prominent figures of her generation, and she maintained her influence throughout the latter decades of the 18th century.
