Biography
Maria Sophia Berchtold (1794–1878) was an aristocrat whose long life spanned nearly the entire nineteenth century. She witnessed profound changes in European society, culture, and politics, maintaining her family's traditions and social prominence throughout the many transformations of her era.
Berchtold's life was marked by the privileges and responsibilities of her aristocratic station. She was interred in the Chotek Vault in Valtířov following her death in 1878, her final resting place reflecting her distinguished family connections and the respect accorded to her station.
