Marie-Jo Bourron
1931–2012 (age 81)
Biography
Born in 1931, Marie-Jo Bourron emerged as a sculptor whose hands brought gentle strength to stone and bronze. She lived through the changing tides of mid-century Paris, studying form and shadow before making Montparnasse her home and studio, where she delighted in translating human emotion into tactile silhouettes.
Her work found companions in the city’s cafés and ateliers, leaving delicate marks along the boulevard she loved; after her passing in 2012 she rests in Montparnasse Cemetery, where her pieces still echo the serene intensity of a quiet life dedicated to art.
