Marie Novotná was a Czech woman who lived through much of the twentieth century, witnessing the profound transformations of her nation during a period of significant historical change.

Her life spanned from 1921 to 1990, encompassing the interwar period, World War II, and the decades of communist rule that followed. She was laid to rest at Waldfriedhof Zlín, a final resting place that reflects her connection to the Moravian region of Czechoslovakia.
