Biography

Marina Mikhailovna Raskova was a pioneering Soviet aviator and military leader who broke barriers in aviation and combat service. Born in 1912, she became the first female pilot to serve as a navigator and went on to establish and command the 46th Guards Night Bomber Regiment, an all-female aviation unit that became legendary for its courage and effectiveness during World War II.

Raskova's exceptional leadership and bravery made her a symbol of Soviet women's contributions to the war effort. She died in 1943 in a flying accident, and her remarkable achievements were commemorated with her burial in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis, honoring her extraordinary service to her nation.
