Biography

Martinus Lørdahl, born in 1873, was one of Norway's leading speed skaters during the early years of the sport, frequently representing Christiania Skøiteklub and pushing the limits of long-distance racing. He competed against the best of his day, bringing attention to speed skating as both a competitive endeavor and a celebration of athletic endurance.

Off the ice he devoted himself to organizing competitions, mentoring young skaters, and ensuring Oslo's arenas could host national and international meets, helping lay the foundation for the city to become a sporting hub.
