Biography
Marv Throneberry brought his big smile and big bat to the major leagues, beginning his career in the Yankees' farm system before playing with the Orioles, Braves, and Mets. He became a fan favorite for his affable demeanor and willingness to laugh at himself amid the pressures of professional baseball.
His 1962 season with the Mets captured the public imagination, and though he retired from the game soon after, he remained connected to the sport, sharing stories with young players and lending his voice to baseball clinics that inspired a new generation.
