Biography
Mary Anna Jackson married Thomas Jonathan 'Stonewall' Jackson in 1853 and afterwards became the devoted guardian of his memory. After his loss at Chancellorsville, she dedicated herself to raising their children, corresponding with admirers, and ensuring that his legacy remained a beacon for future generations.
She spent her later years welcoming visitors, supporting fellow veterans’ families, and preserving the artifacts and stories that kept her husband’s name alive long after the Civil War faded from living memory.
