Mary Fendall

Biography

Mary Fendall was born in 1761 and lived a full life during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, passing away in 1818 at the age of fifty-seven. She was interred in South Park Street Cemetery, Calcutta's oldest surviving burial ground.

As a member of the Anglo-Indian community, Mary Fendall witnessed the growth and consolidation of British influence in India. Her burial in this historic cemetery preserves her memory and marks her place among the generations who lived through this transformative era.
