Biography
Mary Livermore spent her life advancing causes of social reform, education, and justice, becoming a tireless advocate for women's rights and a champion for the Union cause during the Civil War. She helped organize relief efforts through the United States Sanitary Commission and later used her platform as a journalist and speaker to urge full civic participation for women.
As the new century dawned she continued to press for suffrage and fairer labor laws, leaving a legacy of persistence and principle when she died in 1905 and was laid to rest at Wyoming Cemetery.
