Biography

Mary Magdalena Lewis Tate (1871-1930) answered a spiritual calling early in life and, in 1903, founded the Church of the Living God, the Light of the World, training countless women and men in the nascent Pentecostal movement.

Traveling from city to city, she emphasized education and compassion, raising up ministers and congregations that still honor her pioneering structure; she now rests at Greenwood Cemetery.
