Biography
Matěj Rössler (1754–1829) was a Catholic priest who served in Bohemia during a period of significant religious and political change. Ordained during the reign of Joseph II, whose ecclesiastical reforms profoundly affected the Catholic Church in the Habsburg lands, Rössler witnessed and adapted to the evolving relationship between church and state throughout his long ministry.
Father Rössler devoted his life to pastoral work and spiritual leadership in the Poděbrady region. He was interred in the Cemetery in Poděbrady, where he had served his parish, leaving behind a legacy of religious service spanning more than seven decades of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
