Biography

Matthew Simpson answered the call to Methodism with eloquence, serving as a bishop whose speeches stirred hearts and whose counsels inspired movements for temperance and unity.

He ministered to soldiers, statesmen, and congregations alike, and after his passing he was placed at rest in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, where the memory of his vigorous preaching continues to encourage the faithful.
