Maud Gassaway
1876–1930 (age 54)
Biography
Maud Gassaway greeted every new decade at Mountain View with steady grace, playing the organ for Sunday services and teaching piano to eager pupils who might not otherwise hear live music. Her gentle encouragement inspired several students to pursue teaching themselves, and she kept the community's hymnals and scrapbooks updated with family milestones.
Outside the sanctuary Maud led the Mountain View Ladies' Relief Society, organizing sewing bees for soldiers and tending the cemetery gardens so that each plot reflected the care she extended to living neighbors.
