Biography
Maurice-Elie Sarthou celebrated the Mediterranean light through canvases that blended color and emotion, capturing the rhythms of sea and sky with a painter’s sensitivity. His work brought renewed attention to the Languedoc coast, turning ordinary harbors and shores into luminous testimonies of place.
He remained dedicated to nurturing young artists, sharing both technique and generosity during his time in Sète. His spirit lives on at the Cimetière Marin, where visitors honor the painter whose brush paid tribute to the region he loved.
