Mehmet İlmî Efendi

Biography

Mehmet İlmî Efendi was a Turkish writer born in 1839 who witnessed and documented much of the 19th century Ottoman cultural landscape. His literary contributions reflected the intellectual currents of his time.

İlmî Efendi passed away in 1924 at an advanced age and was laid to rest in Karacaahmet Cemetery. His long life and career spanned from the mid-19th century through the establishment of the Turkish Republic, making him a bridge between different eras of Ottoman and Turkish intellectual life.
