Biography

Mike Stepovich played a pivotal role in Alaska’s journey to statehood, serving as territorial governor and advocating for the legal and economic foundations that would support a new state. His measured counsel and tireless advocacy helped usher Alaska into the Union, and his work as an attorney served the people of the territory with distinction.

Later in life he remained active in public affairs, generously sharing his experience and championing civic engagement across the region. He is remembered for his dedication to the Last Frontier and now rests at Birch Hill Cemetery.
