Biography

Mikhail Amelin was a Soviet military officer who served in the Red Army during the formative years of the Soviet state. He contributed to the development of Soviet military capabilities during a period of significant institutional growth and modernization.

Amelin's life was cut short in 1937 during the purges that decimated Soviet military leadership. He was buried at Donskoe cemetery in Moscow, one of many military personnel whose service was ended during this period of political upheaval.
