Biography
Mikhail Chigorin was one of Russia's greatest chess masters and a pioneering figure in the development of modern chess strategy. His innovative approaches to the game and his competitive spirit earned him recognition as one of the world's leading players during the late 19th century.
Chigorin's contributions to chess extended beyond his tournament successes; he helped establish Russia as a major force in international chess competition. His legacy influenced generations of chess players and theorists. He was interred at Novodevichy Cemetery following his death in 1908.
