Biography

Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin was a prominent Soviet political figure who served as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, effectively serving as the titular head of state for much of the Soviet era. Born in 1875, he was one of the earliest Bolsheviks and maintained a significant role in Soviet governance throughout his career.

Kalinin's long tenure in high office and his status as a respected elder statesman of the Soviet Union were reflected in his influence on state affairs. He died in 1946 and was honored with burial in the Kremlin Wall Necropolis, a testament to his importance in Soviet history.
