Biography

Miriam Baratz, a dedicated dairy farmer from Degania Alef, lent her hands and spirit to the pioneering kibbutz movement in the first half of the twentieth century. Born in 1889, she stood among the women who transformed the fertile lands of the Jordan Valley into one of the country’s earliest models of communal agriculture.

Throughout her life, Miriam’s care for the land and love of community sustained the village through lean years, and her memory endures in the quiet rhythm of the fields she once tended.
