Missak Manouchian
1909–1944 (age 35)
Biography
Missak Manouchian, born in 1909 in the Ottoman Empire, arrived in France as a refugee and became a poet whose verses intertwined with his commitment to justice, leading a multicultural band of immigrant workers in the FTP-MOI that carried out daring operations around Paris.
His capture and execution in 1944 only strengthened the power of the "Affiche rouge" he inspired, and today his memory resonates in the Panthéon as a tribute to art, resistance, and the solidarity of nations.
