Biography

Mkrtichʻ Peshiktʻashlyan (1828–1868) was an Armenian poet whose verses captured the cultural and spiritual life of the Armenian community in Ottoman Istanbul. His literary contributions enriched Armenian poetic traditions during a significant period of Armenian intellectual activity.

Peshiktʻashlyan's work remains part of the Armenian literary heritage, reflecting the vibrant cultural life of nineteenth-century Constantinople. He was interred in Şişli Armenian Cemetery, a final resting place for many prominent members of the Armenian community.
