Molton Cropper Rogers (1786-1863) came of age as the republic found its footing, devoting himself to the quiet responsibilities of family life and neighborly care. He welcomed friends with steady warmth, balancing the needs of his household with thoughtful attention to the concerns of his community.

Throughout changing times he remained a calm presence, remembered for the gentle steadiness that held up those around him and for the patient generosity with which he offered counsel; he now rests at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
