Biography
Mordecai Ardon, born in 1896, studied art in Europe before establishing himself in Mandatory Palestine, where his teaching at the Bezalel Academy shaped a new generation of Israeli artists.
His canvases, suffused with mystical symbolism and the glow of the Israeli landscape, earned him recognition including the Israel Prize and a reputation as one of the founders of Israeli modern art.
