Biography
Mordechai Zeira (1905–1968) was one of the most beloved composers of the pre-state and early state periods, writing melodies and lyrics that captured both the yearning for the land and the joy of renewal. His work became staples in classrooms, youth movements, and community celebrations, helping to forge a common cultural language.
He also taught and mentored young musicians so that the rich tapestry of Israeli music could be passed to the next generation; he is buried in Kiryat Shaul Cemetery.
