Morton A. Read

Biography

Morton A. Read (1843-1921) answered the call during the Civil War as a Union officer, earning the Medal of Honor for his bravery at Five Forks and later carrying the memory of that sacrifice throughout his civilian life.

He was laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery, where his grave stands as a testament to the courage and service he offered to his country.
