Biography

Narcisse Edmond Joseph Desmadryl (1801–1881) was a French engraver who practiced his skilled craft during the nineteenth century. As an engraver, he contributed to the visual culture of France through his technical expertise and artistic vision in this demanding medium.

Desmadryl's long career in engraving spanned much of the nineteenth century, a period of both traditional craftsmanship and technological change. He was buried in Montparnasse Cemetery, reflecting his respected position in Parisian artistic circles.
