Nathan Smith Davis Jr. followed in the footsteps of his father as a physician dedicated to advancing medical education and practice. He combined clinical skill with scholarly pursuits, writing and teaching on the importance of rigorous training for every generation of doctors.

He supported hospitals and professional societies across the Midwest, striving to ensure that compassionate care remained central to the healing arts, and he now rests at Rosehill Cemetery among colleagues who shared his calling.
