Biography
Nathaniel Upham, born in 1774, studied business, served his state in three terms in the U.S. House between 1825 and 1829, and offered a calm voice during debates over tariffs, the army, and the westward movement of the nation.
After leaving Washington he returned to his mercantile pursuits, cared for his family, and continued to give steady counsel to the Old Cemetery community that still honors him.
