Biography
Nell Brinkley captured the imagination of readers with her elegant illustrations and the beloved “Brinkley Girl,” celebrating feminine exuberance and the new possibilities opening to women in the early twentieth century.
Her panels, which appeared in newspapers and magazines, blended romance, humor, and a call for suffrage and social justice, and when she passed in 1944 she was laid to rest at Beechwoods Cemetery, leaving an indelible imprint on American illustration.
