Dame Nellie Melba was one of the most celebrated opera singers of her era, renowned for her crystalline soprano voice and commanding stage presence. Born Helen Porter Mitchell in Lilydale, Victoria, she adopted the stage name Melba and achieved international acclaim performing in the world's greatest opera houses, including La Scala, Covent Garden, and the Metropolitan Opera.
