Biography
Nicander (Molchanov), born in 1852, rose to become archbishop of the Orthodox faithful in Vilnius and shepherded the community with a thoughtful combination of liturgical reverence and practical concern for parish schools.
He sought to build bridges with other confessions while tending to the spiritual needs of his flock, and his repose is honored at the Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit where his memory continues to inspire clergy and laity.
