Biography
Nicholas Greusel, born in 1817, came to the area with a heart full of determination and soon became known for his hospitality to fellow immigrants seeking a fresh start. He labored in the fields and helped lay out neighborhood gardens, sharing seeds and techniques to ensure everyone could harvest food.
Later, Nicholas served on several committees that benefited widows and widowers, believing that a strong community lifted up every member. He rests at Spring Lake Cemetery, remembered for his generosity and steady optimism.
