Nicholas Lear lived from 1826 to 1902, sharing in the experiences that defined his community as Philadelphia evolved through the 19th century.

His exact calling may not have been preserved, but the care with which he was laid to rest at Mount Moriah Cemetery reflects the regard of those who loved him.
