Nicholas Trist

Biography

Nicholas Trist, born in 1800, served his nation as a diplomat, most notably negotiating the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and bore witness to the expansion of the republic with a keen sense of honor and duty.

His grave at Ivy Hill Cemetery stands as a testament to a life spent in service to the United States, as well as to the thoughtful leadership he offered throughout a complex era.
