Nikola Kotkov quickly became a beloved figure at Levski Sofia and the Bulgarian national team, earning a reputation for graceful movement, precise finishing, and a willingness to create opportunities for his teammates.

His leadership on and off the pitch inspired younger players, and though his life was cut short in a tragic car accident in 1971, the admiration of fans and peers endures at Central Sofia Cemetery and beyond.
