Biography
Nikolay Tatishchev was a Russian military officer from a distinguished aristocratic family with a long tradition of service to the Russian state. He served during the twilight years of Imperial Russia and the subsequent revolutionary upheaval.
Tatishchev eventually settled in exile at Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, the Russian cemetery community near Paris that provided refuge for many displaced Russian military personnel. He lived there until his death in 1937, part of a generation of officers who preserved Russian traditions in foreign lands.
